Ruta 90 Privacy
by Outlier Method
Ruta 90 is made by Outlier Method LLC. Last updated November 5, 2026.
Short version: Ruta 90 has no accounts, no ads and no tracking. Your progress lives on your own device unless you choose to share a score.
What stays on your device
Your first name, the he or she choice used in the stories, your language, your progress, saved phrases and settings are kept on your phone or computer. We never see them unless you use one of the optional features below.
Optional features that send data
- Family board. If you create or join a family board, we store the name you show, your language, your points, your best 60 second score, your hours, your streak and the scenes you finished, filed under the family code. Anyone with that code can see the board.
- Family backup. If you back up to your family board, a copy of your progress is stored under that code so you can restore it on another device.
- World board. If you join the world board, we store the name you choose to show, your points this week, your best 60 second score and your streak. Other learners of the same language can see them. Rows expire after four weeks. You can leave at any time, and names reported by several learners are hidden.
- Bug reports. If you send a bug report, we receive what you write, where in the app it happened, your language, the app version and your device type (for example "iPhone app, iOS 26"). Your email is included only if you type it in, so we can tell you when it's fixed. Reports are kept for up to a year to fix problems, then deleted.
- Speaking practice. When you use the microphone, your speech is turned into text by Apple's speech recognition on iPhone, or by your browser on the web. Ruta 90 does not record or keep your voice.
We never require an email, phone number, location, contacts or payment details, and we never sell or share data with advertisers.
Ruta 90 Pro
Subscriptions are bought and managed through Apple. We never see your payment details. The app only asks Apple whether Pro is active on your Apple ID.
Daily reminders
If you turn on the daily reminder, your iPhone schedules it on the device. No information is sent to us.
Suggested videos
Suggested videos open on YouTube. What you do there is covered by YouTube's own privacy policy.
Developer review tool
The Ruta 90 website includes a hidden review tool, the Coach, that only Outlier Method's developer can turn on with a private code. It is not part of the iPhone app. On the website it is off for every learner: it does not load, keep a log or send anything unless that code is entered on the device. When the developer turns it on for his own testing, it keeps a short log of what was opened and answered on that device, and when he asks for a review it sends that log, a progress summary and the text on the screen to Anthropic, which runs the Claude AI model, to get suggestions. Anthropic handles that data under its own privacy policy.
Children
Ruta 90 is fine for families. It collects no personal information beyond the optional name and scores above. A parent can remove a child's family or world board entry from inside the app, or by emailing us.
Deleting your data
Delete the app, or remove the learner inside the app, to erase everything on the device. Leave the world board from the Scoreboard. To remove anything stored on a family board, email mail@outliermethod.org with the family code and the name.
